1. dissolve 1 Tb reg yeast in 1 cup warm water (about 10 min) -about 5 min in sprinkle 1 Tb sugar on top.
2. While you are waiting for the yeast water to foam start mixing other ingredients.
3. Slightly melt 1/2 c butter or margarine. Combine with 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 tsp salt. (stir with fork)
4. Add yeast mixture with fork
5. Mix in 4 cups of bread flour w fork - I cheated and used my kitchen aid with the dough hook! Much easier on the hands! ;)
6. Cover with towel and let rise till doubles in size(about 1 1/2 hours)
7. Punch ball down and divide in half. Lay on floured service and roll out into a circle.
8. Brush melted butter onto the circle and then cut like a pizza.
9. Start from the top of the wedge and roll down to make crescent.
10. Let rise another hour and then bake and 375 for 7 min.
11. Brush melted butter on tops as they come out. mmmm I can taste them already...
These were really good! Oh and of course I had to make a few heart rolls. I made them using my heart cookie cutters. The other ones I twisted like a breadstick and and folded them into hearts.


So I don't know about you but I always have the hardest time with sugar cookies. They always taste like flour! blah! So this year I decided to try a new recipe and it's probably the best one I've found so far. The only thing I didn't have was the lemon extract, but I bet it would only make them taste sweeter! :)
Sour Cream Sugar Cookies-
Cream together: 1 c margarine,1 3/4 c sugar
Add and Stir: 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla,1/4 tsp lemon extract, 1 c sour cream
Mix in a separate bowl then add to above: 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, 5 c flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt
Mix well. roll out to 3/8 thickness ( not too thin). cut with floured cookie cutter. Cook at 350degrees for 8-9 min- don't over bake.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
Cream : 8 oz cream cheese 1/2 stick butter(1/4 cup)
Add: 2 tsp vanilla, 1lb (about 2 cups) powder sugar

mmm i will have to try both of these. I'm so glad you did research on sugar cookies. I feel the same way about flour-y cookies. You must have read my mind because the thursday before valentines day i reallllly wanted to make sugar cookies, but i didn't have a good recipe. i'll have to make some easter or st patty's day cookies!
