This recipe is always a fave around our house, so I thought I’d share it with you incase you haven’t tried it!
Hawaiian Haystacks:
1 pound of chicken
2 cans of cream of chicken
1 cup of milk or water
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 T minced onions
1/2 t lawry’s salt
s & p to taste
-Place chicken in crock pot. Combine all ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook on high 4-6 hours. Shred chicken and keep on low setting while your prepare the rice. You can add more milk or water, if you like it a little more soupy at this point.
Serve over rice (It tastes better cooking it with chicken broth instead of water).
Top with (optional): cheese, tomatoes, pineapple, olives, green pepper, celery, coconut and Chinese noodles.
Next step: Enjoy!
This sounds really tasty...i might just have to try it. I love anything that can be done in a crock pot!!!
ReplyDeleteWe do a stack but it's a lot different from this one. I'll have to blog about it soon.
ReplyDeleteThis really sounds great..like Tanya, I love using my crock pot.:)
I make this for my husband on his birthday! Your gravy sounds much better then mine, think I will make it this week! I do toasted almonds and green onions in addition to your toppings.
ReplyDeleteThis actually sounds pretty good!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Hawaii for 6 years and I was thinking....eww....instead of chicken to make it REALLY Hawaiian you could use Spam!! LOL They love their Spam in Hawaii (and ok, I won't lie...so do I!) :)
I love your blog. I made your creamy chicken taquitos last night...FABULOUS!!! I have one question about that recipe. When you cook the chicken you say 1/4 water. Does that mean fill the crockpot 1/4 the way, or add 1/4 cup water? I filled the crockpot 1/4 the way with water. Just wondering what it should be. I'm sure we'll be making these often now. They were so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteYum, I haven't made these in ages! They are so yummy, and just taste awesome! We add sliced green onion and chopped or sliced almonds as well. Thanks for the reminder that these are so yummy!
