Our sweet baby girl arrived October 26th at 8:01 am. We named her Emmalyn & she weighed 8 lbs 10 oz!
So here’s how everything happened…The Doctor had planned on me getting induced this week because he guessed she would be a rather large baby. So we arrived at the hospital Tuesday morning around 7 am and the nurses got started pretty fast. Unfortunately they had a very hard time getting an IV in my arm and it caused me to get pretty nauseous. After that the baby went into distress. Right as the Doctor came into the room to induce me he noticed the baby’s heart rate dropping. They kept talking, and acting calm but I knew something was wrong. I wasn’t too worried because I could still feel the baby moving. After about a minute or so, nurses came flying in the room and I knew something was really wrong. All of a sudden my husband was gone and I was in a scary room where the Doctor told me I would be having a c-section. Before I even had time to freak out I was put to sleep. The next thing I remember was waking up with no baby. This was definitely not how I had planned it and I was so sad that I had missed the whole thing. The Doctors told me they didn’t know why the baby’s heart rate had dropped so low, but that it was a good thing I was at the hospital when it happened. I know it wasn’t how I had planned, but I am also very grateful I was at the hospital and that we both are here safe and healthy.
Emmalyn had a rough time breathing at first and was put in the NICU for the first few days. This was SO hard because I was unable to hold her and kiss those chubby cheeks. I was also in a lot of pain, so it was very hard to go down there to see her. I was so so happy when they finally got her off the oxygen and I was able to feed her for the first time. Words cannot describe the love I have for this little girl. She is such a blessing to our family and is truly a miracle! I am enjoying every second I have with her and simply love everything about her. She is absolutely perfect!
Isn’t she preciousl? :)

ReplyDeleteOh, I am so glad you and the baby are both well. That sounds like a really, really scary experience. I've had four c-sections, so I can understand that you are probably pretty uncomfortable. Just make sure that you take it slow and give your body a chance to heal--you've had major surgery, so your recovery is going to be wildly different from what it was with your other babies. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Glad you are both healthy and I hope you're feeling better. She's so stinkin' adorable! How fun that she's finally here!
ReplyDeleteOh Yes!! She's absolutely precious and adorable! I'm so glad she is doing well and home now getting all your love. I know how hard it is to be separated at birth, our first spent 2 months in the NICU...now she's 12. Congrats on your beautiful Emmalyn!!
