So my Armoire is FINALLY finished!! It’s been painted for awhile, it just took me forever to get the windows done! It is such a relief to finally have it done. Now I get to fill it with all her cute little outfits!!
So remember what it looked like before…yikes! I found this piece of trash at Savers for $10. I knew it had potential…and for $10 I couldn’t just leave it!
With a lot of sanding, a coat of kilz 2, and a few coats of swiss cofee I think she came out B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! I also distressed the edges a little to give it more of a vintage look.
I put some of the extra paint I had from when we painted the striped wall in our paint sprayer and gave the hardware a few coats of pink paint. Then I sprayed them a couple of times with Minwax polycrylic spray paint for extra protection. I’m loving the pink against the white. Oh so girly! :)
The windows were the trickiest part for me. I really wish I had the tools to cut out wood…but I don’t, so I decided to just use cardboard instead. I know-so lame! It definitely wood of looked better with white wood- but oh well!
I traced the cardboard, cut it out and then wrapped it with batting/fabric and hot glue. I’m not going to lie- it looked ugly! So I decided to add a little ruffle trim to spice it up! I thought about painting the cardboard white, but then decided it may make it look more cheap. lol! So for now it stays brown.
Wow can you believe it’s the same piece of furniture!?
So…what do you think?!
What else can I say but WOW! this is an awesome transformation.

ReplyDeleteWho would have known something that ugly could look that good. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful! It's the same colors as my daughters room! I love everything on top of it to...that sugar and spice sign is soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteNo, I CAN'T believe it's the same piece of furniture. Bee-you-tee-full!
ReplyDeleteAnd I personally love the fabric on the cardboard. I think it adds so much! Love that part!
Would love for you to link up to Passion for Paint this weekend.
Wow great job. Since the front looks like bead board, why not cover the back of the doors in bead board so it shows through the front. You don't have to cut it round - make a square the side of the door. Or you could hang curtain rods like you see for the side lights on some entry doors and hang fabric and "bunch" it up really pretty.
