I LOVE Valentines! Not only for the chocolate, roses and my hot husband… but for the decorations! They just make me happy! Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a sucker for red. It is such a classic and beautiful color. I may have gone a little over board with the color when I first got married, but luckily spray paint was invented and I have integrated more white, blues and greens into my home.
I found this frame at Michaels for ONE dollar! Naturally I painted it red…
I wanted to create more dimension... so I grabbed some off white acrylic paint and added random streaks. There really is no art to this, I just kind of went for it. Some times I get a little “paint happy,” but I think this turned out just how I imagined it.
So while the paint dried I got on my computer and made up a little sign I could print out. I just had to make sure the dimensions were the right size to fit on the frame.
Did I mention I didn’t pay a dime to print this out? I used fonts straight from my computer… all of which were downloaded here for free. LOVE it!
When I was ready to print it out, I hooked up my computer to the Silhouette and watched it work it’s magic.
After it printed out I peeled off the back paper leaving the letters stuck to the paper. Then I applied transfer paper on top of the blue paper. You NEED transfer paper when applying words… especially smaller ones. Trust me I’ve tried it, and it always ends up in a mess.
I cut my design in half, because sometimes it gets all stuck together as I’m peeling off the transfer paper and that just makes me mad. It’s a lot easier to handle vinyl in smaller sections. Or maybe I’m just impatient… lol. Just take it slow.
Once I finished applying the vinyl I added a little bow and that was that!
LOVE it!
And I added the cupcake because I just thought it was to cute! :)
